On our purchase travels around Europe, we often find new and exciting products that is inspire ring for us to use when we come back. Many of our pots and vases we buy from the larger markets within Europe..
Most of the flowers in our shop come from Holland. If you order early you can get almost anything here. We visit Aalsmeer at least twice a year to update ourselves of the production within the flower industry.
Aalsmeer, Holland
The world center of flower production is Holland. They produce and distribute almost every kind of flower from the world. In 2007 over 8 million containers of flowers went through this auction. These were filled with over 12 billion cut flowers. Thats quite impressive!
The world's largest flower auction is in Aalsmeer, close to the airport at Shiphol. The area is 1 million meters square. On an average day 90 million cut flowers and 2 million plants are sold here every day. You can go and see how this works but remember to set your alarm clock because at 4 in the morning the auction starts and at 11 it’s all finished. Most of the flower production that happens outside Holland are brought here for selling and then distributed to the rest of the world.
